AARA Clinical Research is an Integrated Research Organization (IRO) that supports a robust network of healthcare organizations.
An IRO is a type of research organization that is embedded within health systems, private practices, and other provider organizations and supplies the entire clinical trial infrastructure that a healthcare facility will need to successfully run a clinical trial program, excluding the principal investigator (PI).
We will establish a dedicated research office within the clinic locations and imbed fully trained Clinical Research Coordinators to execute the trial at the patient level. Meanwhile, our centralized Administrative team ensures all studies are standardized and conducted with the same integrity across all of our sites. As an integrated part of the practice, we have access to the practices electronic medical records system, allowing us to seamlessly assess feasibility and identify patients for study eligibility remotely. As a trial partner, we have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the practice, which makes negotiating terms and performing study start up faster and easier thanks to our streamlined and centralized infrastructure. This model is an attractive option to many leading practices that otherwise do not have the resources or appetite to build a sophisticated research infrastructure on their own. Given AARAs extensive experience and reputation in clinical research, we are an ideal partner to make clinical trials accessible to more physicians and patients.
Qualified Staff
All research staff are qualified by training, education, and experience to conduct clinical trials. In addition to their formal education, we require staff to complete a rigorous internal research training program, including CITI Good Clinical Practice Certification. Each location has all staff roles available (primary & back-up).
Equipped Facilities
All research facilities are fully equipped to handle most clinical trials, with specialized and dedicated research space. Each location has the following infrastructure available on-site.
What Sets Us Apart
Central Laboratory
A wide range of laboratory tests is available, including routine studies for general medical care and monitoring, as well as more specific rheumatologic tests. If only a portion of the lab tests ordered are performed in our offices, we will draw the blood for those not done in our lab and send it to the appropriate outside laboratory.
On-site X-rays
Our Paradise Valley, Glendale, Mesa, Phoenix & Tucson locations include in house X-Ray facilities. Each X-Ray is interpreted by the Rheumatologist familiar with your clinical situation and by a consultative radiologist if needed.
Bone Densitometry
DEXA (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry) technology is available at all of our locations. The interpretation is provided by the treating rheumatologist in the context of risk factor assessment. Such analysis allows the rheumatologist to evaluate for osteopenia and osteoporosis, assess the strength of bone, and guide the use of new medicines that can strengthen bone to reduce the risk of fractures.
On-site Infusion Suites
Infusion therapies (intravenous medications) are provided at many of our locations. Our company has a dedicated staff of infusion nurses who frequently consult with the treating rheumatologist regarding the particular needs of the infusion patient.
MRI for Extremities
Rheumatologists have begun to utilize MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to assist in the diagnosis and management of rheumatologic disorders. The addition of a high field MRI dedicated to peripheral joints and interpreted by radiologists specializing in musculoskeletal diseases helps the physicians at AARA to best assess the effectiveness of a patients’ current therapy and the need for further therapies.
The ONI MRI located at the Paradise Valley office provides an open “patient-friendly” environment and avoids some of the difficulties encountered by patients in more enclosed systems.
